West Bengal municipal/civic polls 2017 results: TMC going strong & strong, wins all 7 municipalities. BJP is distant second & flop show by CPM, Congress.

West Bengal civic body elections results 2017: Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) today continued its all-conquering run in the state after bagging all seven seats in urban local bodies polls. The elections were held on August 13. TMC bagged total 140 wards out of 148.

Meanwhile, BJP has emerged as distant second by winning only 6 wards out of 140 in seven municipalities.

The former ruling bloc the Left led by CPIM and Congress have faced an absolute drubbing in these elections. With Panchayat polls scheduled to take place in 2018, these results assume significance.

"It is the people's victory. I thank them." Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said. Her senior party colleague and Minister Partha Chatterjee said in a dig at the BJP, "If the first boy in class gets 95 and the second boy just 10 marks, what's the meaning of coming second?" The CPM, he said, has been reduced to a "signboard".

Once again victories in the civic bodies come nearly a year after the Trinamool Congress returned to power in the state winning 211 out of 294 seats.

The BJP, which has been trying to position itself as the main opposition to Trinamool, won just 6 wards out of total 140.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had expected to give a stiff challenge to Mamata Banerjee, failed to put a brake on the Trinamool Congress's surge in West Bengal.

In West Bengal, the presence of BJP is mostly in Social Media and in TV. But in civic body election’17 result they won just 6 out of 148 wards.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had expected to give a stiff challenge to Mamata Banerjee, failed to put a brake on the Trinamool Congress's surge in West Bengal which will give a major boost to Mamata Banerjee ahead of the General Elections in 2019.

BJP had campaigned aggressively for the municipal elections which were held on August 13th, though amidst complains of violence and booth-capturing. The opposition parties had demanded scrapping of the municipal elections.

BJP has been attacking Mamata Banerjee and TMC over the corruption cases and law and order issues. It harped on scams like Narada, Sarada and Rose Valley.
The party also strived hard to publicize the developmental programs of the Modi government.

However, these efforts seem to have made no mark in the municipal elections.

In reality the communal campaign made by BJP and the vindictive attitude they are showing by using central agencies plus the way their Bhakts (BJP-IT cell) trolling abusively and aggressively resulting a negative wave against them.

One thing is clear now Mamata Banerjee is coming up as main opposition leader who has popular votes plus guts to fight against BJP & it's agencies.
