West Bengal's rural voters gave the thumbs up to Chief Minister
Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, which decimated the Left Front and crippled
the Congress heavily. In West Bengal
Panchayet Election’13 Trinamool swept the zilla parishad, panchayat samiti and
gram panchayat -- all three levels of rural governance. The election had been
billed as a curtain raiser to the 2014 general election and the biggest test of
Banerjee's popularity since she came to power in 2011.
Maintaining its wining spree, the ruling Trinamool Congress swept the three-tierpanchayat polls in West Bengal capturing 13 out of 17 Zilla Parishads, while the Congress put up a poor show with just one in Murshidabad & Lefts (Mainly CPM) bagged Jalpaiguri while no one gets clear cut majority in two other districts North Dinajpur & Malda.
TMC's clean sweep in the zilla parishads in 11 of 12 south Bengal districts and two out of five north Bengal districts, demonstrated that the two-and-a-half-years of incumbency and anti-propaganda which are created by CPM, Congress & BJP with the help of their paid media mainly “ABP-Ananda” & “24-Ghanta” etc, by and large, failed to sway the rural people's trust on the Mamata Banerjee government.
It can also be seen as a “SLAP” on CPM’s recruited
“West Bengal State Election Commissioner” Com. Mira Pandey’s face as from day one she was tried her level
best to prospond/cancel this election and oppose all proposal of West Bengal
Government to please her recruiter “Alimuddin Street” (HQ of CPM in Bengal).
The victory in the panchayat elections for the Trinamool Congress was the completion of a full circle for the party after demolishing the Left Front in the state in 2011, senior minister Subrata Mukherjee said.
"The call for political change given by Trinamool supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee two years ago in 2011, today came full circle with the victory in the panchayat elections," Mukherjee said.
TMC not only did well in south Bengal, but also breached the barrier in north Bengal where it won Cooch Behar and South Dinajpur.
The party won the zilla parishads in Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Burdwan, Birbhum, Nadia, Coochbehar and South Dinajpur districts.
The ruling party registered a huge victory in the three Maoist strongholds in Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore districts. TMC also won adjoining East Midnapore district.
In the five districts of North Bengal, which
went to polls, the results showed that Trinamool had widened its reach in
Congress dominated regions.
The party registered spectacular victories in Coochbehar and South Dinajpur, while making inroads in the Congress domain in North Dinajpur, the home ground of Congress minister and Mamata's bete noire Deepa Dasmunsi.
The Left Front won Jalpaiguri and also leading in two hung districts North Dinajpur & Malda.
The Congress conceded ground even in Malda and North Dinajpur and managed to won only Murshidabad.

Of the 824 zilla parishad seats, 531 went to
the Trinamool, 207 to the Left, 80 to the Congress and four to others. Counting
was stopped in two seats following allegations of mal-practices.
In the panchayat samitis, the Trinamool's
success story was more spectacular.
It won over 70 percent of the middle level
bodies in the three tier rural council system. It also gained over 60 percent
of the gram panchayat bodies - the lowest rung. The Left finished a distant
second and the Congress a poor third in both tiers.
The results provided the most powerful barometer to gauge the
public mood after the Trinamool snapped ties with the Congress last year. The
mandate showed that triangular fights hurt the Congress the most. The Trinamool
managed to increase its sphere of influence in total Bengal.
Now with this massive victory it’s clear that People of Bengal
are with Mamata Didi & TMC and they rejected all anti-propaganda by paid
media & nasty negative politics by “Scam-Stared Congress” & their companion “Corrupt Murderer Money Looters CPM”.
